If your Windows 11 device has a built-in precision touchpad with multi-point gestures, you can change certain functions that allow users to have quick access to several functions, including opening search, bringing up the Notification center, Play/pause, or activating the middle mouse button. We’ve shown students how to change three-finger swipe, four-finger tap gestures, touchpad scroll direction, pinch to zoom on the touchpad, two-finger drag, and more. If you have set up these different touchpad and gestures settings and you wish to reset and start over, the steps below will show you how to do that. This is also a great way to fix and resolve touchpad issues in Windows 11.

How to reset touchpad and gestures settings in Windows 11

As mentioned above, Windows allows users to reset touchpad and gestures settings to defaults from the Windows Setting app. This allows you to reset all settings after you’ve made some changes and want to start over. Below is how to do that in Windows 11. Windows 11 has a centralized location for the majority of its settings app. From system configurations to creating new users and updating Windows, all can be done from the System Settings pane. To get to System Settings, you can use the Windows key + I shortcut or click on Start ==> Settings as shown in the image below:

Alternatively, you can use the search box on the taskbar and search for Settings. Then select to open it. Windows Settings pane should look similar to the image below. In Windows Settings, click Bluetooth & devices and select the Touchpad tile on the right.

On the Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad settings pane, toggle the On switch to Off to be able to reset the touchpad and gestures to defaults. Once the Touchpad switch is Off, the Reset button should be active and available. Click Reset to restore all settings to defaults. When you click the Reset button, Windows will reset all settings to defaults and turn Touchpad back on. That should do it!
